Two-way contact via International Space Station
Here's a cut-and-paste of the pertinent lines from a two-way contact between my station, K5JAW, and XE3ISS, located in Cancun, Mexico. This represents my first direct contact with another ground station, using the International Space Station's amateur radio equipment as a digital repeater. You've got to be quick and to the point, as many want to access the station in its brief pass. Some of the contact lines are repeated (you'll note the different time stamps). This is necessary because there are often "packet collisions" or two data packets reaching the space station at the same time, and the resulting conflict means neither get relayed.

Satellite Communicators' Club
Station K5JAW has joined the ranks of the Satellite Communicators' Club, which is sponsored AMSAT - The Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation. AMSAT is a major sponsor of amateur radio satellite systems that amateur operators use to communicate worldwide. A variety of satellite technologies have orbited the earth in the past few decades, and plans continue to expand the amateur radio satellite constellation. Membership in the Satellite Communicators' Club comes after making radio contacts using amateur radio satellites. Station K5JAW has contacted the International Space Station directly, as well as relayed data to other ground-based amateur stations using amateur radio equipment aboard the ISS.

Bouncing data off the International Space Station
For the first time, I tried my hand at relaying a digital packet signal through the amateur radio system aboard the International Space station as it passed over Mississippi around 8:30pm on June 6, 2013. The packet I sent was successfully heard and relayed, and is highlighted below. The line shows the signal sent by my station, K5JAW-1, being relayed by RS0ISS-4, which is the Russian call sign for the International Space Station's amateur packet station. The time stamp shows June 7, 2013 01:30:15, which is Universal Coordinated Time, the international standard time for amateur operators. This is my second contact with the ISS. The first was a voice contact on November 7, 2010. You can listen to that contact by clicking here.
Below you'll find a screen-capture of a map produced by www.ariss.net, which plots stations heard by the International Space Station. You'll note KC5WQ-2 near Itta Bena, and some of his packets are also listed below.

2013. A total of 5.77 inches of rainfall, or 112% of normal, was recorded over 13
precipitation days in www.cocorahs.org rain gauge MS-SF-1, located on the north side of Indianola,
Mississippi. For May, there were five notable rain events. The
first was May 1-6, which yielded a total of 2.71" of
rainfall. The second was May 10-11 with .88 inches recorded. On May 17-18, another 0.82" fell, as did 0.64" on May 22. Our final rain event was May 30-31 with 0.72" recorded.
Year-to-Date MS-SF-1 has recorded 34.15 inches of precipitation, which is 63% of our annual normal.
If you're willing to record daily precipitation totals, please visit the CoCoRaHS website linked above for more information on how to join the network. CoCoRaHS data is used by a wide variety of organizations, including the National Weather Service, emergency mangers, hydrologists, and many others. CoCoRaHS data can be enhanced by having one station per square mile in urban areas, and one station every 36 square miles (survey township size) in rural areas.
