With 2013 now in the books, here is a recap of weather events for the year in Sunflower County, Mississippi.
Event-wise, 2013 was relatively quiet as compared to the past few years. 97 weather advisories were issued for Sunflower County, compared to 98 in 2012, 144 in 2011, and 131 in 2010. 2013 was also a very wet year, compared to a 30-year average. 64.73 inches of precipitation was recorded at CoCoRaHS Station MS-SF-1, located on the north side of Indianola. This is 10.70 inches above the 1981-2010 average of 54.03". January was the wettest month of the year, with 10.94" recorded. For the year, precipitation was recorded on 122 days in 2013.
