Wet Weekend Update

Since yesterday, the threat for severe weather for the Mississippi Delta area has diminished somewhat, but an occasional strong thunderstorm cannot be ruled out this afternoon.  Storms should be limited to the southwest areas of the state today, and spreading across the Interstate 20 corridor tomorrow.  Additionally, one to two inches of rainfall are expected across the area through the weekend.  At 7am today, 0.47" was recorded at www.cocorahs.org station MS-SF-1 in Sunflower County, and 0.65" was recorded at MS-WS-1 near Leland in Washington County.   You can view statewide rainfall totals by clicking this link.  Additionally, NWS Jackson publishes a rainfall map of their service area each day around 10:00am, and it can be found at the top of the right-hand column on this webpage, or by visiting this link.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EXTREME SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS AND
NORTH CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT AND FRIDAY

A FEW STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING...ESPECIALLY FOR AREAS FARTHER SOUTH AND CLOSER TO THE
INTERSTATE 20 CORRIDOR WHERE INSTABILITY WILL BE GREATEST. THESE
STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HAIL UP TO QUARTER SIZE AND
DAMAGING WINDS UP TO 60MPH. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL OF ONE TO TWO
INCHES WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY

HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF ONE TO TWO INCHES COULD RAISE THE CONCERN FOR
FLOODING.

.SPOTTER CALL TO ACTION STATEMENT... THE ACTIVATION OF STORM
SPOTTERS...HAM RADIO OPERATORS...AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
PERSONNEL IN SUPPORT OF SEVERE WEATHER OPERATIONS...MAY BE NEEDED
