This isn't an "official" forecast, but more of an inside view to the thinking behind the forecasts.
Parameters continued lining up this weekend which will likely lead to an outbreak of damaging winds associated with a squall line on Monday.
Currently, we expect a strong capping inversion to be in place at 4,000-6,000 feet for daybreak Monday which should initially prevent any storm development during the morning hours. However, a strong cold front will be approaching the Delta region between 10am and noon which will begin creating a squall line as the cap weakens during midday. This line of storms will accelerate toward the east southeast during the afternoon with damaging wind gusts of 70 mph...a few tornadoes where the line breaks or bows out...and potentially golfball sized hail. The line should exit southeast MS by sunset Monday evening leaving nearly 2 inches of rainfall at some locations.
